Fonteva 20 Spring Release: Upgrades to Look Out For

Fonteva 20 Spring Release

The Fonteva 20 Spring Release comes a year after the 2019-R1 release in the last year. The latest Fonteva 20 Spring Release is power-packed with features and enhancements that make managing your associations and nonprofits easier. This release focuses on enhancements across the organization including:

  1. Improved Payment Process & Order-Related Capabilities
  2. Enhanced Event Login & Registration Functionalities
  3. Compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  4. Multilingual Translation Support for Community Sites
  5. Introducing Support for the New 3D Secure 2.0 Protocol

Improved Payment Process & Order-Related Capabilities

In the latest version of Fonteva 20 Spring, one of the major updates simplifies reporting, optimizes the processes, and saves storage costs.

  • The Invoice object is now merged with the Sales Order object. This means that Sales Orders can now be defined as Invoices depending on the requirements. Staff users no longer need to create Invoices and Invoice Line Records. This also eliminates the need to configure and customize the Order tab in the community to calculate totals on the Sales Order, in turn keeping in check the records in the system.
  • The payment page is now split into two logical pages – Shipping and Tax and Apply Payment.

When staff users pay an order which includes shipping and/or tax, they need to:

    1. First, configure the payments on the Shipping and Tax page.
    2. Then, move on to the Apply Payment page.

Note: You can manage your sales orders, invoices that were converted from sales orders, and the ones that were created by enabling the Line Items Removable feature on the Apply Payment page.

Here’s a glimpse of the new Apply Payment page:

Enhanced Event Login & Registration Functionalities

Fonteva already offers a wide spectrum of functionalities to set up in-person or online events for your nonprofit or association. The list of functionalities keeps on expanding with each release. Now Fonteva brings two very useful enhancements:

  • Event login functionality extended to staff users – Now you can enable staff users to set up an event login page in Salesforce as well as configure authentication rules and other details for each event. This functionality lets you designate complete configuration of event login pages to your staff users with steps ranging from defining the type of event to specifying the time, duration, tickets, venue, and all other specifics related to the event including rules for authentication purposes. In the long run, it helps your organization achieve a streamlined event management process where you’re able to increase the number of event sign ups and handle them efficiently through a handful of staff users.
  • Single form for event registration – In the Fonteva 20 Spring Release, a single form will be captured for event registration instead of capturing separate forms from every attendee. This will make for a streamlined event registration process which is also user-friendly because your staff users will find it really easy to manage the registrations from the backend. It’ll make things easier and more organized for your organization eventually.

These new features provide more power specifically to your staff users. Parallelly, these updates also ensure that only good data is maintained in your ecosystem and the processes are as simplified and optimized as possible so as to provide a better and consistent user experience.

Compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Fonteva’s latest version offers compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0 for Community Sites. These guidelines are issued by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the main international standards organization for the Internet. There are a total of 12 guidelines, organized under 4 principles. The guidelines state that websites must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

This means that your web content and functionalities will now be more accessible to people with disabilities. In fact, your organization and all its content and features will also be easier to access for all user agents, including particularly limited devices like mobile phones.

Multilingual Translation Support for Community Sites

In Fonteva 20 Spring Release, you can present your Community Sites in multiple languages. You can either choose to manually translate or by using import/export methodology.

Community members now have the option to switch between their preferred language under the language tab in the navigation bar. Their language selection will be recorded on their Contact record so that they get to experience your community in the language of their choice – a totally personalized experience.

Staff users get three options to carry out the translation of the community sites:

  • Option 1: Fonteva created its own Translation objects. These objects/instances store the translations for the text fields in the form of records.
  • Option 2: Translate the texts using the Record Translation Tables.
  • Option 3: Directly translate the fields using the inline translation feature that’s available in the Event builder.

Fonteva also provides translation for Community custom labels in 6 languages:

  • German
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • Dutch
  • Simplified Chinese

Note: Importing and exporting of translation is also available through Salesforce’s Data Loader.

Introducing Support for the New 3D Secure 2.0 Protocol

The Fonteva 20 Spring Release supports the all-new 3D secure 2.0 protocol. 3D secure 2.0 is a transaction authentication protocol for users who make their online payments through cards.

It enables organizations and payment providers to send more customer-related information to the cardholder’s bank for each transaction like shipping address, customer’s device ID, and last payment details. These data elements can be specific to payments or customer-related (say customer’s last payment info).

The 2.0 version of this authentication protocol provides a real-time and secure path to the merchants so that they can share important customer attributes with the issuer. This ensures that customers are authenticated more accurately without having the need of asking for a static password. It makes the entire payment process more authentic and secure.
